movie watch

Anyone who knows me even casually, will be really surprised with the last 2 movies I’ve been to - MunnaBhai MBBS and Kal Ho Na Ho. Both were viewed at the same place, a theatre that’s like 5 minutes walk from where I stay.

Munnabhai had a lot of slapstick comedy(I am calling it comedy, coz the people in the hall used to burst into laughter every few seconds or so). The story was typical and predictable, the performances were above average, especially by Sunil Dutt, Rohini Hattangady, Boman Irani and Arshad Warsi. Decent. This was Sunday.

The next movie, Kal Ho Na Ho, was a total sob story. Gawd. The first 1.5 hrs, the movie did’nt move a bit. Songs, claptrap, etc etc. And some “emotional shtuff”, that is the life-blood of Hindi movies. Everyone in the movie is making some sort of sacrifice for others in teh family or people they call “friends”. How do people who are acquaitances become “friends” so quickly? Why do Indian movies/society make a big virtue of sacrificing? Anyway. The camera work in teh movie was good, nice colours and all. And Preity Zinta, as usual, looks cute, and continuing along similar lines, Saif Ali Khan is everybody’s sucker in the movie, and Shahrukh Khan plays “enabler” yet again. You should have seen the females in teh theatre during/after the movie. Sorry if my stereotyping hurts anyone reading the journal. Bleh.

I bought a PCMCIA NIC today. Am buying a large hdd, and some RAM this weekend.
